Kaolin used as refractory products, there are two main categories: refractory brick, silicon aluminum cotton. The former is refractory, not less than 1730 degrees, 2 * 105Pa load softening, the starting temperature is not less than 1350 degrees, the reheating line shrinkage rate is less than 0.5% (1400 degrees C, 2h), can be made into various sizes and shapes of refractory bricks. The latter is a lightweight refractory insulation material. Its manufacturing method is to use kaolin, calcined at 1000~1100 degrees, and then molten ore at 2000 degrees arc furnace, blown into cotton under high speed airflow. The quality of refractory is not very strict to kaolin, but the ratio of Al2O3 and SiO2 in kaolin has a direct influence on the change of refractoriness. In fine kaolin, the value of Al2O3/SiO2 is generally between 0.7 and 0.8 or slightly higher. When the ratio of Al2O3/SiO2 in pure kaolin is 0.85 and the ratio is greater than 0.85, the presence of aluminum rich minerals will improve the refractoriness. And less than 0.7, kaolin content is low, there is quartz, will reduce refractoriness. In addition, the high content of Fe2O3, TiO2 and K2O in kaolin will reduce the refractoriness and have certain harmfulness.
