Anhydrous sodium sulphateis a kind of material which is used for industry, widely used for washing, Sodium Sulphide, textile print, glass, paper-making, leather manufacturing, metallurgy, synthetic fiber and so on.
Structure: monoclinic and orthorhombic and hexagonal system.
Solution: sodium sulfate solution is colorless solution.
Melting point: 884 ℃ (at 24.4 ℃ turn anhydrous, seven hydrate decahydrate was 32.38 ℃, 100 ℃ lost 10 h2o)
Boiling point: 1404 ℃ relative density: 2.68 g/cm3
Application
1.Soaps and detergents. It is an important ingredient in powdered soaps
2.?Textiles: It helps in "levelling", reducing negative charges on fibres so that dyes can penetrate evenly. Unlike the alternative sodium chloride, it does not corrode the stainless steel vessels used in dyeing. ?
3.?Production of paper and paper pulp and glass. It is used as a "fining agent", to help remove small air bubbles from molten glass. It also fluxes the glass, and prevents scum formation of the glass melt during refining.
